Store Manager Kathy Sweigert is enjoying a great start to 2017. She’s one of the honorees who will receive the YWCA’s 2017 Women of Excellence Awards. YWCA is honoring women who dedicate their time and talents to making a difference in central Pennsylvania.
Kathy, the Store Manager at the State College, PA, Giant Store #6072, has consistently demonstrated a passion to be a Better Neighbor by actively participating in community activities, while encouraging others to do the same. Kathy coordinated a Children’s Miracle Network fundraising event at her store and raised more than $3,500. As a result of this effort and other company initiatives, in 2016 Kathy achieved the highest percentage charitable increase over her store’s goal in all of Giant/Martin’s and was honored with the “Living Here, Giving Here” award.
Additionally, Kathy and her district team led the way in raising donations for the USO. With Kathy’s leadership and inspiration, Giant collected more than 40 tons of products – the largest in-kind donation the USO has ever received.
Kathy joined Giant in 2000. She’s a Regional Lead of the Women Adding Value (WAV) Business Resource Group, enhancing the work experience for female leaders, engaging with community partners, and developing and mentoring future leaders and Rising Star Associates in her district.
Because of her selfless acts and commitment to excellence, Kathy was named one of the 2015 Top Women in Grocery by Progressive Grocer, a top food retail industry publication.
Kathy will be recognized by the YWCA on March 23, 2017. Congratulations, Kathy!
